New things!

Well the beach isnt new – though admittedly ephermeral but I have got some new stuff to show off!

Firstly in an attempt to cushion my feet a little more I’m trying out Hokas

Challenger ATR2 or something

I want to see if the extra cushioning helps. I’ve run in them a few times now (and am wearing to work too) and yes the cushioning is pretty amazing. They do lack in grip and stability on technical rocky sections as I found out last night. Unlike my Xtalons theres no connection with what I’m running on and I didn’t have the confidence I usually do on the trickier bits.  Maybe that will come with time. However for longer runs where theres less trickery and more grass I think these could well be perfect.

Last night I did 7 miles after work down to Witches Point and back as I was feeling good, the sun shone and … I just wanted too. Bit longer than I planned but hey when the suns shining make hay! I don’t appear to be suffering any after effects today so fingers crossed either i’m on the mend or the Hokas are doing some good.

On the way back I bumped into old and new friends – The calf was curious but the mother not so. I took it easy through the herd, kept an eye on the buggers and got out alive (As one local very nearly didnt a few years ago)

And finally the BEST new things I have…..

From the wonderful ceejaykay

Some amazing homecrafted bracelets! My photo skills dont do justice to how awesome they are – one says Ultra Badass and the other says f**ckit do epic sh*t and I cant decide which i prefer so I wear both!  My friends at the pub think theyre great but especially the story behind them. Who knew blogging got ya friends and cool pressies!

So thanks ceejay you made my day!

Slowly slowly catchee monkey

Or however the phrase goes.  I took almost a full week off again, mainly as I was busy with other stuff to tell the truth but still figure it doesn’t hurt to come back too fast. So sunday was a nice relaxed effort along the cliffs and home. Or it would have been relaxed if I had any sort of form at all now, everything feels so hard again.

However it did have an upside, as I was bent in half at the top of a hill dying I saw both a four and a five leaf clover!  I await my luck with interest!

Further on I found some sort of dangly thing in a tree – It was a bit Blair Witch again to be honest

All in all though it was a good run (despite the blowing noises) of five miles. The last few days have been fine with the foot, i’m doing strengthening and stretching exercises and will continue the easy runs for a while as I recover.

Oh and its still beautiful out there!

Apologies!

I havent posted anything in ages … havent run in ages!  I’ve also been slack with keeping up with all your blogs too. As well as taking a break for running to heal the foot I’ve sort of backed off the whole thing, not been reading about it or anything as a mental break plus its easier to rest and be injured when I’m not reminding myself all the time over what I could be doing.

So apologies, all of you have been so cool and supportive I do feel guilty that I havent returned any of that support lately. Its not being selfish its being self protective but still Ive had some great emails and support (and presents!) from peeps so I wanted to say I really do appreciate it and will be back in flow soon enough!

Found this one online too – See I can run and smile!
